Progress of China¨s Electronics and Information Industry
The year 2005 saw the dramatic enhancement of the comprehensive strength of china¨s Electronics and Information Industry. The total import/export volume of electronic and information products reached US$411 billion, in which export volume rose by 20.5% at US$250 billion. Among which, sales revenue of software products registered US$300 billion, up by 23.7%. Structural adjustment proved to be effective as the productivity of computer, cell phone, color TV-set ranking top of the world, while new-generation audio/video products, communication network equipment, new-type display becoming. There are 22 enterprises with sales volume over 10 billion RMB. The areas of pearl-river delta, Yangtze-river delta and Bohai ring in all accounted for 70% of the whole sector in terms of sales revenue, industrial added value, profit volume and employment.

In the development of R&D, integrate circuit designs accurate to 0.13-micron. The R&D and industrialization of CPU, Linux Chinese Version, 3G mobile communication, group communication and digital TV developed rapidly, and obtained new technologies and products with self-owned property right, bridging the gaps between china and advanced world level.

The process of building Information society are intensified as the progress in golden card project, golden tax project, and the China customs electronic law- enforcement system. Enterprises are embarking on the IT-based development path as the popularization of CAD/CAM in national key enterprises and wide use of IC cards. E-governing, e-business, information-based urban development and agriculture are pacing up rapidly.

Over-all targets of China¨s Electronics and Information Industry in 2006

Industrial added value reaches 870 billion RMB, sales volume 4000 billion RMB, up by 21%, among which, software and system integration accounts for 23%, pre-tax profits amounts to 170 billion RMB, rising by 6%, total export volume hits US$280 billion, increasing by 12%. The policy of reform and opening up would continue to be strengthened, enhancing the international exchange and cooperation in economic relations and technologies.
